Men’s & Women’s Accessories Designer

Department: Design
Reports To: VP of Men’s Design & Director of Women’s Design
Location: Company Headquarters in Stamford, CT

Overview: This individual will be responsible for collaborating with the Men’s and Women’s Design Directors to design and develop all product categories for the men’s and women’s collections.

Functions & Responsibilities:
· Responsible for creating original and innovative accessory designs each season in conjunction with the Design Director of Men’s and Women’s that are on concept, brand appropriate and trend right
· Create and present key trends boards of fabric and silhouette direction to Design Directors and Merchandising Teams ensuring that all recommendations cover line plan and business needs
· Partner with Design Directors to refine seasonal concept, materials, hardware and color palette for accessories collections
· Meeting design calendar deadlines
· Responsible for timeline adherence; ensuring all Design Cards/artwork is accurate
· Work with team to develop new fabrications, silhouettes, embellishment and embroidery while also updating successful existing silhouettes
· Work closely with cross functional teams – Product Development, Merchandising, and Production to ensure information flow is accurate throughout the development through production process
· Create detailed technical flats for presentation and design packs
· Prepare design packages in Blue Cherry Web pdm system
· Assist in all aspects of daily follow-up with external and internal partners
· Participate in group meetings, fabric shows and trend shopping

Requirements:
· 4-5 years of experience working in accessory design
· Experience in all accessory categories: men’s & women’s
· Excellent creativity, a high taste level and a strong understanding of the Vineyard Vines aesthetic
· Innate knowledge of fashion and trends with the ability to focus into the new direction each season that is brand appropriate
· Knowledge of manufacturing, materials, hardware, leather and trim sourcing with strong relationships and resources
· Experience designing Home related products a plus
· Computer skills: Excellent Photoshop and Illustrator skills, Microsoft Excel, a web pdm type program
· Excellent communication and presentation skills
· Strong time management skills and ability to thrive in a face paced environment; excellent delegation skills
· Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with a team
· Upbeat, positive attitude
