All work and no play? That certainly wasn’t the case when we shot out spring catalog down in Antigua. Here is what our Junior Stylist, Rhiana, had to say about the trip…
Travelling has always been something that I am passionate about and it’s certainly one of the best perks of my job as the Junior Stylist here at VV. I’ve gotten to visit some incredibly beautiful places on location for our photo shoots, but there was something about Antigua (and Curtain Bluff!) that really won me over from the moment we stepped off the plane.
As we pulled up to the Curtain Bluff Resort, I was excited to experience the place that was the inspiration behind the spring line! We were greeted by many friendly faces, one of them being Chelle, who started the resort with her late husband, Howard, back in the 60’s (you’ll meet Chelle in the catalog). We spent quite a bit of time shooting at Chelle’s house, especially on her balcony as it is famous for the view.
We spent a day shooting on board the beautiful Mariella, a famed wooden sailboat with many distinct races under her belt. Her crew was made up quite the list of characters that kept us entertained throughout the day and allowed us to transform the cabin into our own floating hair, makeup and wardrobe studio. It wouldn’t be a photo shoot here at VV if weren’t on board a boat at some point!
While on shoot, I’m always prepared for the possibility adventure—we stop at nothing to get that perfect shot! That being said, in Antigua our crew all donned harnesses and went zip lining! We had help from an insider Jake, you’ll meet him in the upcoming spring catalog, who worked at the Zip Lining course and helped show us the ropes–literally!
No matter where I’m on location, it seems to always be the team I work with who make the experience most memorable! Antigua is certainly a special place and our amazing crew was lucky enough to live the good life there for a week!
