vineyard vines, preppy, fall 2014

Krista from Covering the Bases and Katie from Katie’s Bliss got decked out for the Saratoga Race Course in VV style. We think the Diamond Print Maxi Dress and Jennings Shirt Dress were the perfect navy and white combos for a September day at the races. And with their guys sporting vineyard vines from head-to-toe, these four were the best-dressed couples out there, without a doubt.

Guys are wearing:
Club Pants
Solid Oxford Tucker Shirt
Uncle Whale Tie
Anchor Geo Tie

Scarf Season is here!

Sep 10, 2014

Saying bye to summer is a little bit easier when we think about our favorite scarves we can accessorize with all our fall outfits. With a pop of color and fun design, we’ll be keeping the chills at bay with our new Border Print Scarf!

The Ice Cream Boat!

Sep 6, 2014

If you’re a fan of ice cream trucks, you’re sure to love the Ice Cream Boat! Brothers, Tim and Payson, started up the Ice Cream Boat back in 2007, serving to the North and South side of Cape Cod. “Nothing beats Cape Cod, nothing beats working on the ocean,” Tim tells us. (And we couldn’t agree more!)

Selling novelty ice cream out on the water and along the shoreline, these two have picked up some loyal, generous and courteous customers along the way. And we have to say, nothing’s better than a good ‘ol ice cream on a hot day.

Make summer last!

Aug 28, 2014

summer nights, EDSFTG, vineyard vines

Summer may be winding down, but we’re still taking full advantage of fun times outdoors with friends and family. Whether you host a BBQ, take a sunset cruise, or meet up for happy hour, make summer last. Share your photos with us with #EDSFTG.

Sailing through August up in Newport, Rhode Island, Jess from Prosecco & Plaid pieces together the perfect outfit for a midday cruise. We love the way she styled our Sailboat Print Dress with a shawl, statement necklace, and large sunglasses. Her blue cross body bag plays into the blue on the sails of the dress, completing the outfit. Nice job, Jess!

The Friday Five

Business School- Starting Darden (UVA) Business School in August 2014. Someone’s gotta take that bullet; just stepping up so the other business school kids can go to a school where they’ll have less to distract them.

Favorite VV Pants- The lightest, brightest ones. Girls are like moths (or maybe I am?).

Summer Vacation- Costa Rica: no shirt, no shoes, no passport, no problem.

EDSFTG Moment- Starting slalom ski at 6:30AM on a lake weekend.

Discovery of the Whale- My grandmother had a house on Martha’s Vineyard and I grew up going every summer. Living in Atlanta, no one else knew about MV so it was always kind of my place. I have no idea how old I was when I got my first VV tie- but the answer is not old; maybe 13-14.

We discovered Nicklaus and Joshua after getting a tip from our store manager at VV Southampton!  Each season, these two choose one small item to include in a mini care package they send to stay in touch with their entire network of friends. This summer, after visiting our new Southampton storefront, they chose our Whale Coozies as their summer gift with #whalegoodsummer included.  Yep, you guessed it; soon enough, all the recipients of this whaley good gift started loading photos of their coozies in their ‘natural habitats’ to social media. We couldn’t think of anything more appropriate to represent the Good Life that summer stands for. Cheers to that!

We met… Three years ago, on the same day as Boston’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade! We were introduced by a close mutual friend. The luck of the Irish was clearly on our side that day!

The proposal… Bret proposed to me at the annual Suzanne Donlin Kelly Memorial Golf Tournament; an event founded in honor of his late mother. The proceeds of the tournament go directly to a scholarship in her name at Boston College High School. Just as the field of 150 golfers (our closest friends and family) were about to tee off, Bret commandeered the microphone and asked me to be his wife. We like to think that Bret’s mother was there in spirit, as this is an all-day event celebrating family, friends and sport!

The wedding venue Our wedding took place on June 20, 2014, in Cohasset Massachusetts. The Reception was held at Atlantica, a location that boasts beautiful views of the harbor and the moored lobster boats. In essence, we had the quintessential New England backdrop for our special day!

We incorporated VV into our special day by…. In every way possible! The vineyard vines apparel and accessories embody our relationship – fun, whimsical, and full of life! It wasn’t even a question that we wanted to have our entire wedding party outfitted in VV. The bridesmaids’ dresses & flower girl’s dress, with their nautical strip and mixed patterns, gave us the platform and theme for our entire wedding/reception: nautical chic! The men’s Polka Dot Whale Ties complimented the wedding colors: navy, white and raspberry! Finally, if there was one thing we knew our wedding would involve, it was going to be a whole lot of dancing! Our guests did not disappoint. My bridesmaids and I were all too happy to slip into our navy blue and white polka dot VV flip flops at the reception!
