We tied the knot… In Charlotte, NC on June 29, 2013. We were married at Saint Luke’s Catholic Church in Mint Hill at 10AM and had a brunch reception at Firethorne County Club. We really enjoyed the laid back feel that a morning wedding and brunch reception provided.
We incorporated VV into our day by… My husband is a big baseball fan and not so much a big wedding planner. My mom and I planned most of the wedding and would ask his opinion when we narrowed something down to two choices. When it came time to pick a tie, my husband voiced his opinion that he wanted a baseball tie! I immediately thought of vineyard vines. With it’s classic New England vibe (we reside in Boston), and southern charm appeal, vineyard vines fit into our wedding aesthetic and epitomized our lifestyle. My husband wore the pink Yankees Logo Tie and his groomsmen wore the navy Baseball Ties.
Our first dance was… “All I want is you,” by Tristan Prettyman. I am a teacher, and a parent of one of my students choreographed a dance for us to the song! It was a special, intimate moment. We still remember the dance moves!
Our EDSFTG moment was when… The brunch reception ended at 3PM, and that night, our wedding guests joined us for a pool party at my parent’s clubhouse pool. We served classic Carolina BBQ, played lawn games and ended the night with a visit from an ice cream truck! As we took a step back, my husband and I realized how lucky we were to be surrounded by our closest family and friends. Not only did we get to celebrate with them at the reception, but we got to spend quality one-on-one time with every guest at the pool party. Everyone was celebrating into the wee hours of the morning, including my 85 and 89 year old grandmas (one wore my veil the whole night!). This is something we will always cherish.
Then we jetted off to… Aruba for some R&R!
