Over 20 years ago, our parents started driving out onto the sand at South Beach every Sunday with a group of their closest friends and family. The parents got to spend time together doing the things they loved (fishing, grilling, etc.) while the kids found new playmates to chase, bury and terrorize (boys will be boys). But in all seriousness, we made some of our best, lifelong friends out there over sandwiches and sandcastles. Two generations later, we are thrilled to continue that tradition with our friends and family.
These Sunday Fundays are always our favorites of the summer and we love and value the people we share them with. Two of the people who join us in the surf each weekend are Jon Searle's better thirds (no offense, Jon), Denise and Emma. Denise is a kindergarten teacher and Emma is in the second grade. Like Jon, they're two of the nicest people you'll ever meet. We recently caught up with Denise and Co. aboard their aforementioned vessel, Fake Fin. On a crisp Vineyard day, with her little whale tucked in close and her big Whaler set to cruising speed, it's safe to say it doesn't get much more real than this.
