There Are Ties in Baseball

Cynthia Rodriguez, the wife of Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez, made a tempest-in-a-teapot fashion statement at Yankee Stadium last month when she wore a tank top with an obscene message on theback - just a few weeks before her husband hit his 500th home run. Last week, after pitching his 300th victory, the Mets' Tom Glavine threw out a style changeup of his own: a retro-preppy necktie. In conjunction with Vineyard Vines, the Tom Glavine Rally 300 necktie is being issued to benefit the Rally Foundation, a nonprofit group that raises money for childhood cancer research. The 300 limited-edition ties are each signed by the pitcher and can be bought for a $1,000 donation at rallyfoundation.org. All proceeds will go toward childhood cancer research.
